Runner Grateful To Compete In Baltimore MarathonBALTIMORE (AP)
― A car crash victim running in the Baltimore Marathon on Saturday says he's grateful to participate after being in a coma for two months.Brian Boyle needed more than 30 blood transfusions after a dump truck broadsided his car in July 2004. He lost 60 percent of his blood while emergency workers tried to free him from the wreckage.Doctors said his heart was dislodged by the impact, which broke his ribs, clavicle and pelvis.Since then, the 23-year-old from Charles County has learned to walk again and has become a spokesman for blood donation for the American Red Cross.Boyle is writing a book and has completed eight triathlons and one marathon.___
